- Shifting Gears Vintage Auto Repair Inc.
Welcome to Shifting Gears Vintage Auto Repair. Riley & Scranton Service Center in Glastonbury Ct has become Shifting Gears Vintage Auto Repair! The change to a full time classic and special interest auto repair shop reflects our earliest interest in cars and moves us into a new phase of operations. Our corporation began as “Pike & Riley’s Flying A” in 1965. Changed to “Riley & Scranton’s Flying A” in 1969, then “Riley and Scranton Service Center” in 1974. Earl became involved in 1986 when his father in law Dick Riley bought out his partner, buying the business himself in 2002. While not aspiring to be a full restoration shop, we are able to facilitate completion of stalled projects, in house mechanical and unit repair, along with light fabrication, welding, electrical and accessory repair and installation. Our strong liaisons with local body/paint, upholstery and glass professionals round out our ability to provide assistance on many levels. We can assist with purchase and sales of vintage vehicles as well as help with transportation arrangements.

Earl and Ed met in Trade School at Howell Cheney Tech in Manchester during the mid seventies. Friends ever since and having worked together over the years, we each have over 40 years in the auto repair industry. We own and drive vintage vehicles ourselves and treat your classic like one of ours!
